We can help you
Feel Good Together.
By using mindfulness, attachment theory, and the latest research in neuroscience,
we help couples transform their relationship from a source of pain into a source of sustaining joy.
When things started out, your relationship was EASY.
You didn’t have to WORK on your relationship.
You didn’t have to QUESTION it.
Then life became more COMPLICATED...more STRESSFUL.
You moved in together. You bought a house.
Work became more demanding. You had children.
And now you can’t stop FIGHTING.
About how to fill the dishwasher. About working late.
About who's using their smartphone too much.
Fights about small stuff become fights about big stuff.
You ended up disconnected and alone.
You feel MISERABLE.
You wonder if you’ve made a BIG MISTAKE.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.

We Can Help
We help you cut through the distress, the defensiveness, the fighting.
We help each of you speak from a tender, heartfelt place.
We help clarify what each of you need to feel good.
And we’ll set out a path to help you get there.

We help you create the relationship you’ve been longing for...
Imagine your partner smiling, just because you are near.
Imagine having an unquestioning trust in your partner.
Imagine knowing that your partner desires you.
Imagine sharing easy laughter again.
You don’t have to just imagine it, with our help, you can live it.
It’s time to
Feel Good Together

Finding One's Life Purpose

Couples Counseling
We help couples shift from distress and distance, to harmony and reconnection. We help couples get back in touch with the love they've lost. Or, to decide that it’s time to move on.
We have concrete tools that stop fights from escalating and tools that promote effective communication.

Couples Counseling For 1
Do you and your partner need help, but only one of you can come to couples therapy? No problem.
We have helped many couples transform their relationship through our unique "couples therapy for one" approach. We will teach you specific communication techniques so that you can express yourself in a way your partner can hear.

Individual Therapy
You are feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to turn. How would it feel to have someone who understands what you’re going through?
We also help individuals who are not in a relationship, or who are in a relationship that is not the main problem.
We have successfully treated mood disorders like anxiety and depression.
The Plan
Mindfulness • Attachment Theory • Neuroscience
Based on what we now know from the latest research in neuroscience, deep healing on a fundamental level is possible. We no longer need to just treat symptoms at the surface level. We can cue up and facilitate "corrective emotional experiences" that can profoundly heal past hurt and trauma for both individuals and couples.
We use the most up-to-date therapeutic practices in both our individual psychotherapy and our couples/marriage therapy sessions. Whether you are an individual suffering from anxiety, depression, or the after-effects of trauma or neglect, or if you are part of a couple trapped in a negative cycle of fighting or withdrawal and isolation, we can help.
You don't need to suffer any longer.

About Our Therapists
The therapists at the Center for Relational Transformation, located in Chicago's Loop, have been selected not only because of their sharp intellect, but also because of their warmth and compassion.
Moreover, they have been trained in the latest advances in affective-neuroscience as it relates to psychotherapy and marriage/couples counseling in order to facilitate growth and healing in the shortest time span possible.
Each of our therapists has achieved Level 1 status in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). AEDP is a form of treatment founded by Dr. Diana Fosha that brings together the latest advances in attachment theory (the science of human connection), interpersonal neurobiology (the physiology of human connection), and mindfulness practices (non-judgmental awareness which is so important to healthy human connection).
With this cohesive therapeutic approach, we have seen profound shifts in both couples and individuals in a relatively short amount of time.
Let us help facilitate your rapid personal and relational growth.
-
How long should I plan to commit to therapy? After our first session, you will begin by meeting weekly for 50 minute sessions. If there are conflicts that prevent you from meeting weekly, we also offer extended sessions or sessions via phone or video chat. There is no definitive answer for how long you will need to continue therapy. Most couple see dramatic improvement in 12 - 16 sessions, individual progress take longer or shorter depending on the issue being addressed. You and your therapist can decide together if you would benefit from more or less time as you continue treatment.
-
Do you take insurance? We spend all of our time focused on you, our client, not on the phone arguing with insurance companies. If you want to use your insurance, we can give you a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for any reimbursement you may get for out of network care. Some of our clients get almost 100% reimbursement, some do not receive any reimbursement. Many clients choose not to use their insurance because of the potential negative consequences associated with using insurance for mental health services. Insurance companies require a diagnosis of mental illness. This diagnosis will become part of your permanent health record and may restrict future opportunities (employment, life insurance, etc.). You can talk to your therapist about the potential pros and cons of using your insurance. In any event, the choice whether to use your insurance is up to you
-
When are your therapists available?Everyone in our practice offers slightly different availability. Together, we are available Monday-Friday 9 am - 9 pm, and Saturdays 10 am - 6 pm. We are closed on all major holidays.
-
Does your center offer services for children? We do not offer services for individuals under the age of 18.
-
How do I know which therapist will be the best fit for me?One of the most powerful forces in therapy is the alliance and rapport you have with your therapist, so we certainly understand that you want to find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable. Further, various qualities contribute to finding the therapist that is the best fit for you, such as availability, rate, experience, demographics, and so on. We recommend you read our bios and request an appointment with the therapist you feel most drawn to. From there, we offer free consultation phone calls to help determine if we’re a good fit.
-
How much does therapy cost? Our therapists have different rates based on experience, so your session rate is based on your therapist’s rate, the type of therapy and the length of session. All of our therapists offer sliding-scale time slots at off hours for clients in financial need. You can talk to your therapist about this opportunity before your first session.
-
I’m struggling with my relationship, but my partner does not want to go to therapy. Is individual therapy a good idea?"As Marriage and Family Therapists, if the issue you’re struggling with involves someone else, we generally recommend both of you attend therapy. We also know that various complex reasons may prevent this. If this is your case, please still reach out to one of our therapists. We can still support you and help you learn to express what you are wanting and needing in a non-attacking, non-defensive way, ensuring the best chance of your partner hearing you and responding to your needs. We can also help you explore and determine potential underlying needs of your partner, enabling you to shift out of reactivity and into empathy and responsiveness. Since relationships are a dynamic, often if one couple member changes how they express themselves and how they respond, the entire relationship can be transformed. So yes, our unique, “couple therapy for one” approach can still be very helpful even if your partner cannot attend.
